In grade 3, students went beyond the writing workshop with Mrs. Powell. After working for a month on vocabulary and word choice research using library resources and dictionaries,  grade 3 students were able to create their own ABC animal books with their partners. Step by step, they put these together from A to Z, with colourful artwork that was hand-drawn and with simple explanations, accompanied by their word choice to describe animals and their interesting facts. ABC books focus on word choice and the writing process to publish the books. Students were not only able to learn new vocabulary, but also how to use it in their writing. To appreciate all their hard work and effort collectively, as a group, we had a showcase to display our young author’s work to other grades and teachers at PA.
