A unique feature of our school is the weekly activity blocks. Every Wednesday after lunch recess, all grades 1-8 students participate in activity blocks. Students are placed in multi-age groups and participate in activities such as eco-gardening, Japaense, robotics, origami, school newspaper, library club, Spanish, young engineers and mixed media collage club.
There are frequent special events at our school. PA’s parent organization (PAPO) helps organize events such as Santa’s Breakfast and Chinese New Year. First Nations storytellers and artists are brought in for Aboriginal Week and skilled art professionals present during Arts Week. Students have the opportunity to participate in dance workshops, house team dodgeball tournaments and field trips to locations such as the Grouse Mountain wind turbine. Our students have also been able to play lunchtime soccer games with our local RCMP and attend professional musical performances.
