grade three classes visited the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site in Steveston
On Thursday, April 18th, the grade three classes visited the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site in Steveston. The purpose of the visit was to continue learning about British Columbia’s First Nations and their interconnectedness to the environment. Students explored different cannery artifacts, watched a film called “The Salmon People”, and participated in a canning line tour and a salmon preservation station. Furthermore, students explored various species of salmon, discussed the salmon life cycle, and the importance of salmon to British Columbia’s First Nations.
