Earlier this month, Professor Chow, a professor of chemistry from Kwantlen Polytechnic University, come to visit the grade 2 classes. She taught us about physical and chemical changes and did an experiment with us. Students made three different solutions – water and salt, water and epsom salt, and water and sugar. Students then dipped q-tips in the solutions and painted a picture on black construction paper. As the water dried, the salt and sugar were left behind. This is an example of a physical change.
