2022 Summer School
July Camps
Theme for JK-K group and grade 1 to 3 group: Dinosaurs
9 am to 3:30 pm, July 7 – July 29, 2022 (17 school days)
It’s no secret that many children LOVE dinosaurs and at PA we do too. So we’re pleased to announce an exciting summer program based on the love and curiosity of these magnificent creatures. Your child is invited to join the fun this summer as we dive into the wonderful world of dinosaurs and explore all there is to know about them.
It’s also no secret that children learn best when they are engaged and interested, and the dinosaur world provides the perfect platform for that experience. Students will have the opportunity to dig deeply into dinosaurs and how they lived, as well as how they connect with our world today. Academic English will be woven into our camp program in a way that the children will embrace in fun learning.
Our summer program will incorporate dinosaurs into mathematical concepts, through math lessons and games that equip students to develop mathematical understanding. Imagine the possibilities of examining size and measurements as they compare dinosaurs to animals we see today! We’re excited about the stories they’ll write and share as they use creative writing, public speaking, and reading comprehension to strengthen their grasp of the English language. Sports and games will also be taught as we integrate PE into the program. The children will also spend time outdoors in the fresh air throughout the day, as they become dinosaur experts!
JK will explore the same themes as the elementary program, but age-appropriate activities will cater to their learning level. They will learn new vocabulary that will enhance their English speaking skills and knowledge of the topics.
Theme for grade 4 to grade 7: STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics
Older students are often fascinated with things that delve into designing/creating, connecting, calculating and communicating. Developing these concepts are exactly what our STEM camp is based on. This summer program integrates these four modules into a fun-filled camp experience that explores the wonderful world of STEM!
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) encourage students to be innovative and use problem-solving and critical thinking in everyday situations inside and outside the classroom. This camp offers the opportunity for students to explore how things work and make our world more accessible and advanced. The program will really capture the interest of students who tend to ask the “why” questions as they step into the world of STEM and its unlimited possibilities.
August Camps
Theme for all groups: Travel Around the World (JK - K; Gr 1 - Gr 3; Gr 4 - Gr 7)
Travel is something that’s been limited lately in the world; however, that doesn’t stop children at PA from the thrill of traveling through our summer camp!
“Traveling Around The World” is this month’s theme, and will offer students a chance to get away through a program that teaches them about other countries as they travel together through the activities.
This camp will teach children exciting facts about other countries and cultures while engaging them in activities and projects that make them feel like they’re on an exciting journey. They will learn customs and traditions from other countries that will help them to be international-minded.
The program will be designed to include mathematical concepts, through math lessons and games that equip students to develop mathematical understanding as we explore different things. Older students will also be learning financial literacy skills. Younger students will learn about the mathematics of time zones. There are unlimited possibilities for students to write and share ideas using creative writing, public speaking, and reading comprehension to strengthen their grasp of the English language. Sports and games will also be taught, as we integrate PE into the program through games and ideas using the travel theme. The children will spend time outdoors in the fresh air throughout the day to help refresh them (and avoid “jet lag”!).
JK will explore the same themes as the elementary program, but age-appropriate to cater to their learning level. They will learn new vocabulary that will enhance their English speaking skills and knowledge of the topics.
